Ghilotti Bros. was honored to work with Mortenson Clark Joint Venture on the new Golden State Warriors stadium in San Francisco, California.
The stadium sits on 11 acres in Mission Bay with 3.2 acres of public plaza. Ghilotti Bros. performed all the formwork and rebar for the exterior concrete plaza, pathways, stairs, and gatehouse. Our team also installed the structural foam around the stadium that served as a base for the site concrete. We also managed a subcontractor that installed all the planter walls around the site while our team installed the benches and skate stops on the planter walls.
This project presented a few unique challenges: First, we had never worked with structural foam before as a company. Second, our team had never worked on a stadium or project of this magnitude. Finally, we had to coordinate with another contractor pouring the concrete—which is highly unusual for us. Our collaborative approach with this other contractor and the owner was integral to the project’s success.
“Ghilotti Brothers was and is a key partner in the completion of this momentous project,” said James McClamb, Senior Vice President of Mortenson Clark Joint Venture and project director. “From our From our initial meeting where we committed to each other our thoughts on safety, schedule, quality, and partnership, you and your team have been a steadfast partner and responded and reacted to every situation safely and as part of a bigger team.”
After two years of hard work, the Chase Center was completed on time and within budget. The project earned ENR’s NoCal Project of the Year award.
